Warehouse Specialist – COSIS
Purpose and Scope
The Warehouse Specialist performs a variety of warehousing duties that require an understanding of the establishment's storage plan. Exclude workers whose primary duties involve shipping and receiving work, order filling, or operating forklifts.
Essential Responsibilities
Perform a variety of warehousing duties that require an understanding of the establishment's storage plan.
Rearrange and take inventory of stored materials, examine stored materials and report deterioration and damage.
Remove material from storage and prepare it for shipment.
Operate hand or power trucks in performing warehousing duties.
Verify materials against receiving documents, report discrepancies and obvious damages; route materials to prescribed storage locations; store, stack, or palletize material in accordance with prescribed storage methods.
Perform all other position‑related duties as assigned or requested.
Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required
High school diploma or GED.
Six to twelve months of job‑related experience and/or training.
Valid driver's license and ability to operate a government general‑purpose vehicle.
Ability to perform work safely to prevent loss or damage of equipment.
Customer‑oriented with ability to courteously and effectively work through difficult situations.
MAY REQUIRE ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance.
Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands
Must be able to type using a standard keyboard to communicate through e‑mail and software applications.
Must be able to walk and stand on level and/or inclined surfaces for extended periods throughout the day.
Must be able to climb stairs, ramps, ladders, and work stands.
Must be able to crouch, crawl, grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee and reach above/below shoulders.
Must be able to lift heavy objects whose weight may exceed 50 pounds.
Must be able to pass a Respirator Physical and Fit Test qualification.
Must be able to operate power vehicles, machinery, hand tools, ground support equipment, forklift, etc.
Must be able to lift/push/pull minimum of 50 pounds.
May work in warehouse or outside where it is drafty, noisy and dirty.
May be exposed to extreme noise from operating equipment.
May be exposed to electrical shock hazards or work near moving mechanical parts or vehicles.
Will be required to handle dirty parts and lubricants.
Will be required to wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
May be required to travel domestically and internationally on short notice to austere environments, under harsh living conditions.
