JR102049## Compensation Range$38.53 - $52.01--## Job Description SummaryThe Plans Examiner I performs entry-level review of residential and minor commercial construction plans and specifications to ensure compliance with the Weld County Code and referenced standards. This position works under general supervision of the Building Official and is expected to gain knowledge and proficiency to move toward more complex plan review responsibilities.--## Job Description**Plan Review - 80%*** Maintain familiarity with County Code and all codes adopted by the County. Interpret and apply building, mechanical, plumbing, energy, electrical and accessibility codes.* Perform technical code review of building permit applications, project plans, specifications, and other project related documents to confirm code compliant residential & commercial designs.* Monitor and manage assigned Accela task list to complete plan reviews ahead of assigned deadlines.* Communicate in a professional and timely manner with permit applicants, architects, engineers, general contractors, and trade contractors regarding their project to ask questions and gather relevant information to facilitate on-time plan reviews.* Utilize Accela permit tracking software to log communications and activity statuses on all plan reviews* Establish the minimum required inspections for each plan review based on permit type, and the specifics of the project.* Utilize Bluebeam for electronic plan review.* Utilize MS Office for calendar scheduling, email, and office organization.**Administrative Duties - 10%*** Maintain all required ICC certifications.* Perform daily recordkeeping of hours worked, phone call activity, and service counter visits.* Attend and contribute to building department staff meetings.**Other Duties as Required - 10%*** Attend training sessions to obtain CEU’s and stay current with code updates.* Follow policies and procedures, the Weld County Code of Conduct and adhere to strict confidentiality guidelines and appropriate release of information outlined in both.* Other work as assigned by the Building Official.* Not all duties mentioned may be applicable to every position, and the examples provided do not encompass all possible duties that may exist within this job classification.--## Required Qualifications**Required Education*** High School Diploma/GED**Experience Qualifications*** 3 years of practical experience in residential plan review or inspections.**Preferred Experience*** 5 years of practical experience in residential plan review or inspections.* 3 years of practical field experience in residential construction.* 1 year of practical field experience in commercial construction.**Licenses and Certifications*** ICC R-3 Residential Plans Examiner within 180 Days Required* ICC B-1 Residential Building Inspector Preferred* ICC M1 Residential Mechanical Inspector Preferred* ICC P1 Residential Plumbing Inspector Preferred* Pre-employment substance screening is required for this position.* This position is subject to a pre-employment drug screening. Employment is contingent upon successfully passing the screening in accordance with Weld County policy.This position is non-exempt from the minimum wage and overtime requirements of the Fair Labor Standards Act and is therefore eligible for overtime pay.
