Job Responsibilities Responsible for conducting inspections, surveys, and investigations to ensure compliance with standards for healthcare facilities, service providers, and applicants. Evaluate activities to determine the degree to which standards are carried out effectively, identify conditions that do not meet standards, and advise personnel on developing corrective action plans. Complete written reports of deficiencies and submit all findings in a timely manner, ensuring that all files pertaining to a survey are secured in accordance with HIPAA and federal and state laws. Meet deadlines on written correspondence, documentation, and data entry.

Abide by stringent rules regarding the completion of agency forms and practices pertaining to travel, reimbursement, training, and the use of state and/or federal resources. Serve as team leader to a survey team when requested or on a rotating basis, conducting pre‑survey meetings, reviewing survey findings, and arranging travel. Represent the team as a spokesperson or liaison for surveys when needed. Perform other duties as required, including attending local and regional meetings, assisting with staff training, and participating in hearings and trials. Participate in disaster preparedness tasks and be on call 24‑hourly during emergencies.

Minimum and Additional Requirements State Minimum Requirements:

a high school diploma and relevant program experience.

Higher Education:

institutions must be recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.

Agency Additional Requirements:

a valid driver’s license; ability to plan and coordinate with others; understanding of federal and state regulations and laws; excellent writing and oral skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office and related computer software; exceptional attention to detail; and ability to recognize cultural diversity and incorporate cultural competence principles in all communication.

Other Requirements:

knowledge of applicable regulations and policies/procedures; ability to accommodate roundtrip travel up to 4 hours and distances up to 400 miles, including overnight travel 3–4 nights per week; flexibility to work occasional weekends, holidays, and up to 8 hours per day when needed; physical ability to bend, stoop, lift, and carry up to 20 pounds to a distance and/or height of up to 20 feet; and ability to become SMQT (Surveyor Minimum Qualification Test) certified, which will provide a 5% salary increase.

Preferred Qualifications a bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Public Health Administration, Physical Science, Natural Science, or a related field.

Additional Information Driving Record Applicants in the final stages of selection must provide a certified copy of a 10‑year driving record.

State Disaster Plan Employees may be required to work during emergencies or disasters in accordance with the State’s Disaster Plan.
