General Purpose As the Manager, Distribution, you will manage the day‑to‑day operations of an electric utility in a geographic territory that has a significant impact on corporate objectives. You will establish and implement business objectives, strategies, and plans, manage financial and employee resources, and implement company programs and policies.

Responsibilities

Participate in activities related to the planning, design, building, maintenance, switching, and control of the electrical distribution and transmission systems.

Analyze market and competition to identify external threats and opportunities.

Adapt strategy to changing conditions, overcoming resistance and supporting those affected by change.

Implement strategic business objectives, strategies and plans in support of the company’s goals.

Manage and allocate financial and employee resources; maintain department budget.

Promote safety in the workplace through demonstrated leadership.

Respond to after‑hour emergencies related to the electrical system, including distribution and transmission activities.

Manage schedules and complete the annual substation maintenance plan and/or capital work.

Perform inspections and field audits of substation maintenance and/or capital work performed.

Deliver a zero‑accident workplace message regularly.

Interview, hire, train, coach, and develop employees.

Implement more efficient ways to perform the job.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in the electric utility or related industry.

Completion of the Assistant Manager training program, or equivalent directly related electrical or utility experience.

Previous supervisory experience or completion of the Assistant Manager training program.

Demonstrated management, administrative, supervisory, and leadership skills.

Must be flexible and available for after‑hour emergencies on short notice.

Ability to lead, motivate, and influence employees.

Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheets, and mainframe applications.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Must live within the assigned work area.

Must handle confidential information responsibly.

Travel may be required.

Valid driver’s license required.

Preferences

Minimum of five years experience in distribution operations, maintenance, and construction.

Knowledge of labor agreements, accident prevention manuals, code requirements, personnel procedures, budgeting, and company policies.

Knowledge of electrical system construction, operation, and maintenance practices.

Additional Information Hiring Range:

$119,400 – $154,400 annually

Bonus:

Up to 15% of salary
