Overview
The City of Lewisville's Parks & Recreation Department is seeking Day Camp Leaders as a seasonal position from May - September 2026 to support Camp PLAY/Teen Camp programs for children ages 6-15. Compensation
Starting pay for new hires is $14.65 per hour. Returning employees receive higher pay for each consecutive year up to six years as described below: Entry: $14.65/hour Year 2: $15.15 Year 3: $15.66 Year 4: $16.16 Year 5: $16.67 Year 6: $17.17 Note: This is a seasonal position from May - September 2026 with Camp PLAY/Teen Camps running throughout the summer. Responsibilities
Perform supervisory functions for day camp programs including Day Camp Attendants. Develop, plan and coordinate day camp activities. Ensure daily camp activities are conducted in a safe, professional manner. Ensure proper equipment and materials are available. Interact with participants, parents, staff, and supervisory personnel to provide a high-quality program. Maintain facility appearance during and after camp activities. Responsible for reporting any camp incidents to the Camp Director. Performs all other related duties as assigned. Qualifications
Education:
High School Diploma or GED preferred. Experience:
Prior experience working with children and/or instructing day camp activities for children ages six to fifteen preferred. Licenses and Certifications:
Must obtain CPR and First Aid Certification upon hire. Conditions of Employment:
Must submit to and pass a criminal background and pre-employment drug test. Other Requirements:
Must be at least 18 years of age. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of:
Recreational games, crafts, and activities; coordinating daily activities; supervising and interacting with children ages seven to twelve; working outdoors, sometimes in adverse conditions. Skilled in:
Accept responsibility and account for actions; follow instructions, safety practices and standard operating procedures in performing tasks; supervise and interact with children; use good judgment regarding safety; communicate effectively; be punctual and reliable; work well with/without regard to race, sex, color, religion, national origin, age, disability, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, veteran status, genetics, or job type. Physical Demands & Working Conditions
This role involves a mix of office and outdoor responsibilities, with frequent public interaction. May be exposed to varying weather conditions when setting up outdoor play areas. Occasional exposure to dust and noise; standing for extended periods; walking between locations; finger dexterity for computer use. May lift or carry supplies/equipment up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally with/without assistance. Typical daily lifting ranges from 10 to 25 pounds. Notes
