Overview
The City of Lewisville's Parks & Recreation Department is seeking Day Camp Attendants as part of a seasonal program for Camp PLAY/Teen Camp. This position runs May–September 2026 and services participants to provide a positive day camp experience for children ages 6–15. The City recognizes loyalty by offering higher pay for each consecutive year a returning employee stays in the same position. Starting pay for new hires is $13.64 per hour, with incremental increases for returning years up to six (Year 2: $14.14; Year 3: $14.65; Year 4: $15.15; Year 5: $15.66; Year 6: $16.16). Entry: $13.64/hour; Year 2: $14.14; Year 3: $14.65; Year 4: $15.15; Year 5: $15.66; Year 6: $16.16. This is a summer season position that requires extensive contact with children and adult citizens. Note:
Summer Camp Play will run May 9 – Aug 10; Monday–Friday, 7:30am–6:00pm. Management reserves the right
to add, modify, change, or rescind assignments and to make reasonable accommodations so that qualified employees can perform the essential functions of the job. Responsibilities
Implements, monitors, and coordinates daily activities for the day camp program. Assists with daily preparation of activities including arts and crafts, sports, games, field trips, hikes and other activities. Provides snack time and lunch set-up and clean-up. Interacts with camp participants in a variety of recreational activities. Ensures that daily camp activities are conducted in a safe, professional manner following all safety measures and protocols. Communicates camp equipment and supply needs to the Day Camp Leader. Maintains facility appearance during and after camp activities. Performs all other related duties as assigned. Qualifications
Education:
High School Diploma or GED preferred. Experience:
Prior experience working with children and/or instructing day camp activities for children ages six to fifteen preferred. Licenses and Certifications:
Must obtain CPR and First Aid Certification upon hire. Conditions of Employment:
Must submit to and pass a criminal background and pre-employment drug test. Other Requirements:
Must be at least 16 years of age. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge:
Recreational games, crafts, and activities; coordinating daily activities; supervising and interacting with children ages seven to twelve; working outdoors, sometimes in adverse conditions. Skills:
Accept responsibility and account for actions; follow instructions, safety practices and standard operating procedures; supervise and interact with children; use good judgment regarding safety; communicate effectively; be punctual and reliable; work with diverse groups. Physical Demands and Working Conditions
This is primarily an office classification with a mix of indoor and outdoor responsibilities. Duties involve frequent public interaction, exposure to varying weather conditions, and potential lifting of supplies or equipment. Regularly lift, push, or pull up to 25 pounds, and occasionally up to 50 pounds with or without assistance. Daily tasks may involve standing, walking, reaching, talking, and hearing.
