We are seeking a Quality Assurance Team Lead for our Elk Grove Village, IL facility. The Team Lead will oversee and support food safety & quality systems in the USDA–FDA dual jurisdiction processing plant, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements, internal standards, and customer expectations while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and food safety.
Responsibilities
Train production and QA staff on food safety, quality procedures, and regulatory updates.
Direct QA technicians, schedule shifts, and collaborate with the QA manager for performance feedback.
Ensure compliance with USDA, FSIS and FDA regulations, including HACCP, SSOPs, GMPs, and HARPC.
Lead daily QA activities including pre‑operational inspections, in‑process checks, and finished product evaluations.
Maintain accurate and timely QA documentation, including batch records, deviation logs, and verification records.
Participate in internal audits and support third‑party audits (SQF, customer audits).
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Animal Science, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
3–5 years of QA experience in USDA‑regulated meat processing; FDA experience a strong plus.
HACCP certification required; PCQI certification preferred.
Experience with document control systems and audit readiness.
Excellent communication, leadership, and problem‑solving skills.
