Overview
LTL Supervisor (Internal) — Reports To: Senior Operations Manager — Work Model: On-site The LTL Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily Less-Than-Truckload (LTL) operations within ADL’s 3PL environment. This role combines hands-on shipment execution with team leadership, carrier coordination, and service accountability. The LTL Supervisor ensures shipments move efficiently, service commitments are met, and operational staff are supported, coached, and held to performance standards. Responsibilities
Provide oversight of daily LTL operations to ensure service commitments, compliance, and performance standards are met. Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned LTL customers, owning communication, expectations, and issue resolution. Lead customer onboarding for LTL accounts, including SOP development, workflow setup, carrier alignment, and internal training. Monitor shipment activity within TMS. Escalate and resolve service failures, delays, and systemic issues in coordination with Operations leadership and carrier partners. Maintain strong relationships with LTL carriers to support service reliability, capacity planning, and issue resolution. Provide direction, coaching, and performance feedback to Logistics Coordinators supporting LTL operations. Ensure adherence to customer-specific requirements, company SOPs, and compliance standards across the team. Review operational reports and KPIs to drive accountability, service improvements, and customer satisfaction. Act as a liaison between customers, operations staff, carriers, and leadership to ensure alignment and clarity. Expectations & Performance Indicators
Maintains high service levels for LTL pickups and deliveries. Ensures accurate load data, documentation, and system entries across all shipments. Demonstrates effective leadership, communication, and issue resolution under pressure. Proactively addresses operational risks before they impact customers. Holds team members accountable to performance, attendance, and workflow standards. Builds strong working relationships with carriers, customers, and internal teams. Skills & Competencies
Strong working knowledge of LTL operations and transportation workflows. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Effective leadership, coaching, and decision-making skills. Clear and professional written and verbal communication. Intermediate proficiency with TMS platforms and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. Qualifications
3–5 years of experience in LTL operations, transportation, or 3PL logistics. Prior supervisory or lead experience preferred. Working knowledge of LTL carriers, pricing structures, and accessorials preferred.
