Responsibilities
Prepare materials for health care disciplinary cases for presentation before probable cause panels, formal litigation before the Division of Administrative Hearings (DOAH), and final disposition before Boards and Councils.
Maintain electronic case files per established protocol, ensuring completion, correctness, and up‑to‑date activity logs.
Accurately update the computer case‑management system and the electronic case file repository, perform monthly inventory reviews, and provide caseload reports.
Communicate telephonically and in writing with respondents, counsel, witnesses, complainants, expert witnesses, department employees, and the general public; draft, edit, and prepare routine correspondence.
Receive, calendar, and process all notices of proceedings before DOAH; schedule court reporters, witnesses, and locations for depositions and hearings; coordinate witness conferences and pre‑trial meetings.
Prepare notices, motions, subpoenas, pleadings, exhibits (including redactions), and notebooks for trials or hearings; file documents at DOAH and ensure deadlines are met.
Arrange travel and prepare travel authorizations and reimbursements for assigned attorneys per department policies.
Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Sound writing, organizational, spelling, punctuation, and grammar skills.
Strong reading comprehension and effective communication.
Computer literacy, including MS Office and case‑tracking systems.
Planning, prioritizing, mult‑tasking, and time‑management abilities.
Independent work with minimal supervision and confidentiality maintenance.
Ability to compile, organize, analyze data, create reports, and maintain effective working relationships.
Preferred Qualifications
Reliable attention to detail and accuracy.
Experience prioritizing and organizing work product.
Proficiency in filing, typing, proofreading, and editing.
Experience processing and tracking legal documents.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Two years of legal or administrative experience (Microsoft Office, Adobe, data entry, travel preparation, document preparation).
College education can substitute for required experience on a year‑for‑year basis.
Vital Requirements and Legal Information
Security background check and/or drug screening required; participation in direct deposit and drug testing (safety‑sensitive positions).
Social Security Number must be provided for background check; completion of the I‑9 form and verification through E‑Verify.
Male applicants born on or after October 1, 1962, must register with the Selective Services System prior to their 26th birthday unless exempt.
Retirees of the Florida Retirement System should consult the FRS regarding potential impact on benefits upon re‑employment.
Emergency duty may be required beyond normal hours.
