The Prosecution Services Unit (PSU) provides legal services regulating all health‑care boards and councils. The PSU takes administrative action against healthcare practitioners for violations of the licensee’s practice act.

All positions within the Department of Health are required to be E‑Verify employers. This position requires a security background check and drug screening.

Your Specific Responsibilities

Prepare materials for health care disciplinary cases for presentation before probable cause panels, formal litigation before the Division of Administrative Hearings (DOAH), and final disposition before Boards and Councils.

Maintain electronic case files per established file maintenance protocol, ensuring files are complete and contain all appropriate records and documents.

Accurately and timely update the computer case management system and the electronic case file repository as actions occur.

Perform a monthly inventory review of all cases assigned to incumbent attorneys, updating the system and providing a current caseload report after each review.

Communicate telephonically and in writing with respondents, counsel, witnesses, complainants, expert witnesses, Department employees, and the general public. Draft, edit, and prepare routine correspondence based on preapproved templates.

Receive, calendar, and process notices of proceedings before DOAH. Schedule court reporters, witnesses, and locations for depositions and hearings. Prepare notices, motions, subpoenas, pleadings for attorney review; file documents at DOAH.

Prepare exhibits, including redaction of confidential information, and prepare notebooks for trials or hearings. Work with attorneys to ensure deadlines are met.

Arrange travel and prepare travel authorizations and reimbursements for attorneys according to Department policies.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Sound writing, organizational skills, correct spelling, punctuation, grammar, and readability. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and a case tracking system. Ability to plan, manage priorities, multitask, and meet deadlines. Independent, self‑directed work with minimal supervision. Maintain confidentiality. Effective communication and ability to build relationships with others.

Preferred Candidates

Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Prioritizing and organizing work product.

File, type, proofread, and edit for grammar and spelling. Calendar meetings.

Processing and tracking legal documents.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.

Minimum 2 years of legal or administrative experience, including Microsoft Office, Adobe, data entry, travel preparation, and document preparation.

College education may substitute for experience on a year‑for‑year basis.
