What We Offer The Supervisor of Anatomic Pathology works under the supervision of the Anatomic Pathology Manager.

Responsibilities Include

Establishing and maintaining accurate and compliant policies, procedures and protocols, clinical and administrative supervision of the sections

Timely review of quality control and process management; instrument maintenance, inventory management, and problem solving.

The supervisor will assist managers in evaluation of new instruments/equipment and laboratory procedures.

The supervisor acts as a resource for patient caregivers, laboratory management, the medical director and the laboratory staff and serves as the Technical Supervisor in the absence of management.

The scope of patient care ranges from neonatal to geriatric patients.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For

Education: Bachelor’s Degree, required. Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university in Cytology, Histology, Molecular Biology or chemical, physical, or biological science or equivalent.

Experience: Minimum five years relevant laboratory tech and/or leadership experience, preferred.Licensure/Certification: Technologist/Scientist/Specialist Certification from ASCP, required. HT, Flow Cytometry, preferred.

Additional Skills (required): All individuals certified ASCP beginning January 1, 2004 must participate and maintain ASCP Board of Certification (BOC) through the Certification Maintenance Program (CMP). Qualifies as a General Supervisor under CLIA 88 guidelines.

Additional Skills (required): Knowledge of current medical terminology to perform full range of laboratory tests, knowledge of laboratory equipment and testing to perform quality control checks and troubleshooting of instrumentation, skill in anticipating and reacting calmly to emergency situations, skill in developing and maintaining department quality assurance, skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, hospital staff and the public, ability to read and understand information about instrumentation in laboratory field, ability to follow written protocols, ability to work independently, ability to communicate clearly, implementation of competency, feedback, development and progressive discipline processes; teambuilding, conflict management and interpersonal relationship skills.

Additional Skills (preferred): Specialist certifications from accreditation agency.
