Job Summary & Responsibilities Under general supervision, the Staff RN provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies and procedures. Collaborating with patients, families, and the health care team, the RN assesses nursing care needs, plans interventions, and evaluates outcomes of care. The RN provides or supervises nursing care of non‑licensed staff, ensuring care consistent with the Nursing Department’s policies, procedures, and standards of practice. Responsibilities include:
Providing direct care and/or supervising non‑licensed nursing staff.
Assessing the safety, developmental, and age‑specific needs of infants, adolescents, and adults.
Planning interventions and evaluating outcomes in collaboration with the health care team.
Completing charge nurse duties such as patient assignments, supervising staff, and directing unit activities for the assigned shift.
Ensuring compliance with all policies and standards of practice.
Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited nursing school.
If hired after 6/1/12, a BSN is required within 24 months of hire into the RN position.
Patient Care experience required.
Current RN license in the State of Texas or a compact license.
Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross BLS provider card.
If hired after 1/1/21, NRP is required within 3 months of hire or transfer.
Stable within 18 months of hire; renewal not required.
