Under the general supervision of the Director of Information Technology, the Systems Administrator is responsible for provisioning, installing, configuring, operating, and maintaining systems hardware, software, and related infrastructure in a secure, CJIS-compliant environment. This includes designing, optimizing, and managing on-premises hyperconverged infrastructure, Windows and Linux server platforms, and hybrid Microsoft 365/Azure workloads. The role manages virtual desktop images and applications, participates in technical research and development to enable innovation, contributes to long-term infrastructure strategy and modernization, and ensures adherence to organizational policies, standards, and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities
Provide daily operations support and system administration.
Respond to IT issues such as hardware replacement to complex troubleshooting, collaboration with Help Desk, IT staff, vendors, and judicial partners for seamless user experiences.
Administer LAN, VPN, firewalls, Windows infrastructure/services such as AD, Entra ID, DNS, DHCP, IIS, MS SQL, Print/File servers, Group Policy, and Windows Server 2016-2025.
Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain physical/virtual servers, hypervisors, core services, and hyperconverged clusters such as lifecycle management, provisioning, tuning, capacity planning.
Develop, implement, test, and maintain disaster recovery, business continuity, and backup plans.
Proactively monitor infrastructure, analyze logs, resolve bottlenecks, and optimize availability.
Implement security controls such as OS hardening, identity/access management, firewall policies, endpoint protection; remediate vulnerabilities and ensure compliance.
Integrate Microsoft 365/Azure with on-premises systems; support hybrid operations such as identity federation, Exchange hybrid, file sync, Intune.
Evaluate solutions, research needs, recommend purchases, re-engineer systems, and contribute to modernization roadmaps.
Document procedures, configurations, changes, and policies.
Provide 24/7 emergency on-call support on a rotating basis.
Participate in training and professional development to remain current with technologies.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Associate’s degree or technical certificate in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field, bachelor’s degree preferred; or equivalent combination of education, experience, and certifications.
Qualifications
Minimum 3 years of network/system administration experience in enterprise environments. 5+ years of progressive virtualization/server support may substitute for degree.
Experience with TCP/IP networking - VLANs, routing, IPS, firewalls, Windows and Linux system administration, Virtualization - VMware or Nutanix, NAS/SAN storage systems, Backup systems and procedures.
Ability to write scripts in some administrative language such as Perl, PowerShell or VBScript.
Microsoft MCSE, MCSA, or equivalent certification in relevant programs desired.
Strong work ethic and self-motivation.
Creative problem-solving and ability to think “outside the box.”
Excellent customer service skills and ability to work comfortably with and assist others.
Strong communication and documentation skills.
Must be a team player.
Supervisory Responsibilities None
Physical Requirements Tasks involve the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects of light weight (5-25 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation.
Environmental Requirement Tasks are performed mostly indoors but may be subject to infrequent exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
Sensory Requirements Some tasks require depth perception and color discrimination and differentiation. Tasks require oral communication.
