We’re the sole designer, builder and refueler of U.S. Navy nuclear aircraft carriers and one of two providers of U.S. Navy nuclear submarines. Our diverse team ranges from skilled trades to project managers, engineers, software developers, solution architects and system users, working at the forefront of technology, manufacturing, and integration of the most powerful naval ships in the world.

Role Summary NNS, a division of Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII), is seeking a front‑line supervisor to lead our software test group within the Propulsion and Reactor Engineering Planning Yard (PREPY). The group will develop and execute test scripts and procedures that meet functional and software requirements, primarily supporting projects that use Generic Instrumentation and Control (I&C) Hardware Building Blocks (HWBB) and interfacing with NAVSEA08, Naval Nuclear Laboratories (NNL) and Bechtel Plant Machinery Inc (BPMI).

Responsibilities

Supervise the day‑to‑day operations of a team of engineers developing procedures, executing tests, and providing iterative feedback to software development teams.

Manage the team’s workload to ensure safety, quality, cost, and schedule objectives are met.

Provide proactive leadership to the PREPY team, aligning the group’s actions and priorities with PREPY’s strategic objectives.

Qualifications

Professional experience or knowledge of Naval Nuclear Propulsion Plant (NNPP) designs, operations, and cultural values.

Experience in engineering projects that define requirements and the methods of validation and verification.

Experience in software/application development and testing.

Bachelor’s Degree in an ABET‑accredited engineering program and 6 years of progressive technical experience in research, engineering and design, or a Master’s Degree and 4 years of relevant experience.

Must have an ABET‑accredited engineering degree.

Some benefits may vary depending on division or location.
