The Wind Turbine Technician I is an entry-level position responsible for supporting the operation, maintenance, and repair of utility-scale wind turbines under the supervision of senior technicians. This role is ideal for candidates with a mechanical or electrical background looking to build a long-term career in wind energy.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with routine preventative maintenance on wind turbines
Support troubleshooting and repair of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems
Perform basic inspections of turbines, tools, and safety equipment
Follow OEM service manuals and site‑specific procedures
Assist with component replacement and torque/tensioning tasks
Accurately complete work orders and maintenance documentation
Strictly follow safety policies, including working at heights and LOTO procedures
Required Qualifications
0–2 years of wind, electrical, mechanical, or industrial maintenance experience
Technical aptitude with hand tools and power tools
Comfort working at heights (300+ feet)
Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and climb ladders for extended periods
Preferred Qualifications
Trade school, military, or technical training background
GWO Basic Safety Training (or willingness to obtain)
OEM wind experience (Vestas, GE, Siemens Gamesa, etc.)
Basic electrical troubleshooting knowledge
Safety & Certifications
Will complete GWO Basic Safety Training upon hire
OSHA 10 (preferred)
First Aid / CPR (preferred)
