Job Summary Coordinate required quality assurance independent inspection of nuclear plant systems, structures and components (SSC) to verify that work performed meets regulatory requirements, codes, standards, specifications, work packages and procedures. Responsible for the initiation of corrective actions to address discrepancies/non‑conformances identified during the performance of inspection/examination activities. Review and interpret codes, standards, specifications, work packages and procedures for appropriate quality requirements including inspections. May perform other organizational duties such as dispatching, on‑call and night shift as required.
Assist quality control inspectors with problem identification and resolution, analyze data, maintain records, develop inspection plans, and various reports such as department tracking data reports. May conduct Oversight surveillances and assessments and assist in audits.
The knowledge, skills, abilities and experience required for entry into this job include the following:
5 years nuclear plant experience in at least one of the following disciplines: Maintenance group Mechanical, Electrical, or I&C, Nuclear Quality Assurance Program verification activities, or Engineering in the mechanical, electrical, or civil disciplines. Possess the education and experience to be able to be qualified as a Level II inspector in accordance with ASME NQA‑1‑1994 Edition, Appendix 2A‑1. Must meet ANSI 3.1‑2014, section 4.4.11 requirements.
Preferred qualifications
5 years nuclear plant experience in at least one of the following disciplines: Maintenance group Mechanical, Electrical, or I&C, Nuclear Quality Assurance program verification activities, or Engineering in the mechanical, electrical, or civil disciplines.
Certified Level II or Level III in accordance with ASME NQA‑1‑1994 Edition, Appendix 2A‑1 requirements in at least one of the following disciplines: Mechanical, Electrical, I&C, Welding or Civil (including coatings).
Other knowledge, skills, and abilities
Knowledge in most areas of inspection requirements and techniques. Knowledge of power station systems and components.
Knowledge of NRC regulations and industry quality assurance codes and standards. Good written and verbal communication skills.
Good interpersonal skills.
Ability to quickly process, analyze and interpret information.
Must gain unescorted access to a Nuclear Power Plant.
Education Requirements Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education:
GED
High School Graduate
Must meet ANSI 3.1‑2014, section 4.4.11 requirements.
Preferred 2‑year technical degree directly related to mechanical, electrical, or civil engineering disciplines.
Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description For North Anna and Surry: ANSI/ANS‑3.1‑2014, Section 4.4.11.
Education requirements: High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum experience for the position: Related experience which shall include 1 yr.
Special requirements Shall have 1 year of experience performing quality verification activities.
Quality assurance or quality control supervisors who do not possess the formal educational and experience requirements specified in this section for this position may be considered acceptable when other factors provide sufficient demonstration of required abilities. These other factors are to be evaluated on a case‑by‑case basis and approved and documented by senior management.
Expected duties of quality assurance The quality assurance functions are those of (a) assuring that an appropriate quality assurance program is established and effectively executed and (b) verifying, such as by checking, auditing, and inspecting, that activities affecting the safety‑related functions have been correctly performed.
Additional qualification requirements Specific qualification requirements for personnel performing nondestructive examination inspection and tests to verify quality and auditing are specified in ANSI/ASME NQA‑1‑2008 and NQA‑1a‑2009 [2]. NOTE: Dominion Energy commits to ASME‑NQA‑1‑1994 for qualification requirements.
