Full Time – Shift: Day – Primary Location: Detroit, Michigan.
Job Summary / Responsibilities
Direct the Quality and Compliance Department for Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan (RIM).
Direct unexpected clinical event investigation and oversee recommendations/follow‑through.
Ensure compliance with internal and external standards and principles of medical safety and infection control.
Responsible for ongoing hospital readiness for accreditation and for leading the RIM employees and physicians on the journey to become a highly reliable organization.
Oversee policy, pathway, protocol, guideline and/or pre‑printed order development/implementation and analyze results of their use.
Identify the need for policy development and/or revision, define policies in collaboration with higher‑level management input, goals and objectives.
Oversee the development, implementation and/or revision of procedures/protocols in accordance with system‑wide goals and objectives and seek appropriate departmental approvals.
Develop, monitor and revise functional processes in accordance with goals and objectives; provide input into the development and revision of organizational structure for the area.
Approve personnel actions such as hires, fires, disciplines, etc.; ensure timely completion of performance appraisals.
Develop current to intermediate goals and measures for the area; measure and assess performance; assist in long‑range goal development.
Develop and monitor budget for the area.
Provide strategies to executive team to optimize reimbursement and ensure continued recognition as an inpatient rehabilitation hospital under Medicares Conditions of Participation.
Collaborate with senior leadership to ensure documentation supports medical necessity for admission, appropriateness of continued stay, accuracy of FIM scores, and optimal CMG assignment/reimbursement.
Collaborate with senior leadership to identify quality improvement and clinical resource management process improvement opportunities/priorities, develop quality/process improvement plans and implement appropriate interventions to improve clinical service outcomes of care and support achievement of system outcome standards.
Monitor activities for and ensure compliance with laws and government regulations; responsible for DMC policies and Joint Commission coordination and follow‑up; implement external and internal audit recommendations.
Ensure hospital departments achieve objectives for diversity of their suppliers.
Qualifications
Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan.
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing; Master’s degree in a health‑related field or equivalent education and experience preferred.
Three to five years progressively more responsible experience in a related field.
Three years progressively more responsible management experience in an acute‑care facility with at least one year of frequent involvement with senior management, physicians and outside patient care providers.
Experience in the use of personal computers as well as knowledge of statistical or spreadsheet software tools.
