Overview Provides safe, accurate and efficient patient care, including but not limited to: patient assessment, review of labs and vital signs, medication safety, dose verification, and drug administration. Follows all Job Breakdown Instructions (JBIs) associated with role. Provides triage care when necessary. Communicates patient condition effectively to multidisciplinary team members.

Pay Range $26.54 - $49.29

Key Responsibilities

Safely and accurately administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, biotherapy, supportive care, and non-oncologic agents to patients as ordered by providers. Adhere to Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) standards and guidelines.

Ensure accurate and safe disposal of biohazardous waste per OSHA and NIOSH guidelines.

Provide new and ongoing patient education, continual patient assessment, and support.

Document thoroughly, accurately, and timely in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) of treatment rendered.

Ensure appropriate charges are captured by following guidelines for administration of medications and activities.

Follow proper patient identification per JBI for all patient encounters.

Educate patients and caregivers about medications, side effects, and planned treatment course.

Interact with patients and families in a caring, professional manner.

Telephone triage: prioritize and respond to calls and messages from patients, family members, hospitals, nursing facilities, pharmacies, and physician offices in an appropriate time frame.

Assist with inventory and re-stocking of medical supplies; recommend purchases as needed; store items promptly.

Complete annual required safety and nursing trainings; attend mandatory staff meetings as necessary.

Maintain confidentiality of all patient and employee information.

Assist in training new employees related to JBIs.

Work at any Company location as needed and be prepared for overtime with notice.

Perform other duties and projects as assigned; comply with laws and regulations related to patient privacy, rights, safety, and employment; follow company policies and IT and Disaster Plan procedures.

Job Qualifications and Requirements

Nursing Degree

Certifications/Licenses

Unencumbered RN License in state of employment or multi-state license

Current CPR and BLS certifications

Valid Driver’s License and vehicle for travel to other clinic locations as needed

Previous Experience

Experience with hematology/oncology patients in a clinic or hospital setting

Ability to assess patient needs and condition; strong critical thinking; ability to react calmly in emergencies; fluency in English with excellent oral and written communication skills
