The
Capital Analyst
on the Project Intake team plays a critical role in evaluating software-related capital projects. This position ensures compliance with internal capitalization policies and supports accurate financial classification of project activities.
Key Responsibilities Project Assessment & Intake
Review incoming project requests for alignment with capital policy and strategic objectives.
Validate completeness of Statements of Work (SOWs) and supporting documentation.
Capital vs. O&M Analysis
Analyze project deliverables and costs to determine proper classification (CapEx vs. OpEx).
Provide clear documentation and recommendations for financial coding.
Stakeholder Collaboration
Partner with IT teams, Finance, and project managers to ensure accurate intake and classification.
Communicate findings and recommendations in clear, concise language for both technical and non-technical audiences.
Governance & Compliance
Ensure adherence to internal capital software policy and regulatory requirements.
Maintain accurate records for audit and reporting purposes.
Process Improvement
Identify opportunities to streamline intake and classification workflows.
Leverage automation and AI tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot) to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Preferred Skills & Competencies
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
Ability to exercise independent judgment and initiative in complex scenarios.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills across cross-functional teams.
Familiarity with AI and automation tools for process optimization.
Knowledge of IT project lifecycle and software implementation practices.
Bachelor’s Degree in
Business Administration, Information Technology , or a related field (or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience).
Experience with
fixed assets, capital project management, or capital project budgeting
preferred.
Understanding of CapEx vs. OpEx principles and financial governance.
