The
Lead Diesel Mechanic
/
Fleet Mechanic
is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, inspecting, and maintaining diesel trucks and trailers while ensuring DOT compliance and minimizing downtime. This role requires strong communication skills, preventative maintenance knowledge, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced shop environment. Responsibilities
Perform daily
DOT inspections
of trucks and trailers Diagnose and repair mechanical issues reported by drivers or management Maintain and repair trailers, tires and braking systems, hydraulic systems Ensure all equipment meets
DOT and safety regulations Perform and recommend
preventative maintenance
to reduce breakdowns Communicate clearly with drivers, management, and team members Maintain accurate service records using
shop inventory systems and computer software Complete repairs in a
timely, safe, and cost-effective manner Lead by example with strong work ethic, organization, and safety awareness Qualifications & Experience
5+ years of diesel mechanic or fleet mechanic experience required DOT Diesel Mechanic certification
preferred, not required CDL driver
preferred, not required Ability to work
40+ hours per week Must have
own tools Computer diagnosis a plus Experience with fleet maintenance, preventative maintenance programs, shop inventory systems, computer-based maintenance software Strong troubleshooting, diagnostic, and communication skills Reliable, safety-focused, and a
team player Hourly Pay: $45.00 – $50.00
