Associate Controller, Investments . This role sits within a sophisticated finance organization and plays a critical part in supporting investment accounting, reporting, and operational scalability.
This is a senior leadership opportunity for a technically strong accounting professional who enjoys building, improving, and scaling investment accounting processes in a fast-paced environment.
The Opportunity This role will help drive accuracy, insight, and efficiency across investment portfolio accounting and reporting. The ideal candidate brings a strong technical foundation, experience operating within complex investment structures, and the ability to collaborate across finance, portfolio management, and valuation teams.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee investment portfolio transaction activity, loan servicing, and portfolio monitoring, ensuring accuracy and data integrity
Partner with portfolio management and finance teams on investment modifications, repayment scenarios, and portfolio analytics
Collaborate with valuation teams to support investment structures and reporting
Lead the implementation and integration of new investment or portfolio accounting systems, including data migration and workflow automation
Supervise and participate in month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
Prepare and review investment-related financial statement disclosures in compliance with GAAP and applicable regulatory standards
Support preparation of board and executive-level materials related to investment portfolio performance
Develop and enhance standardized reporting templates, processes, and operating procedures
Maintain and strengthen SOX-aligned internal controls and process documentation
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of accounting and finance professionals
What We’re Looking For
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
Active CPA certification
8+ years of progressive accounting experience with a combination of Big 4 Financial Services (FSO) experience and in-house experience at an asset manager
Big 4 background supporting asset management, private credit, credit funds, or regulated investment vehicles
Post‑Big 4 experience within a private credit platform, asset manager, or alternative investment firm
Strong understanding of investment accounting, valuation processes, and financial reporting
Experience working in a SOX-regulated or highly controlled reporting environment
Proven ability to lead teams, manage complexity, and partner cross‑functionally
Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex financial topics for non‑finance stakeholders
