About the Role We are seeking an
Assistant Controller
to join a growing organization in the Raleigh area. This role offers a clear path to Controller within 2‑3 years and is ideal for a mid‑career professional looking to step up. The position involves corporate accounting responsibilities with exposure to project accounting, financial reporting, and technical accounting.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and review monthly reconciliations of general ledger and bank accounts.
Process, review, and reconcile payroll data, including deductions and contributions.
Lead monthly, quarterly, and year‑end closing activities with supporting documentation.
Assist in preparing financial statements in accordance with US GAAP.
Support annual external audit and prepare required schedules.
Enhance and maintain internal controls and compliance processes.
Analyze and report cost variances; assist with budgeting and forecasting.
Act as subject matter expert for the ERP system and drive process improvements.
Collaborate cross‑functionally with other departments to ensure accurate financial processes.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
5+ years of professional accounting experience; project accounting experience preferred.
CPA or CMA designation preferred but not required.
Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting.
Experience with payroll processing and ERP systems (Deltek Vantagepoint and ADP preferred).
Excellent organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
