General Function The Production Buyer Planner owns and drives new product introductions within the optical supply chain. The role interacts with internal partners—including marketing, engineering, and manufacturing—to understand material and demand requirements. The Planner works with external vendors to ensure the best value, highest quality, and timely delivery for optimal inventory levels in support of production plans.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
Plan and procure material requirements for various eyewear categories.
Manage suppliers to meet completion dates according to sales forecasts or customer orders.
Maintain optimal inventory levels while maximizing production plan feasibility.
Review and process MRP suggestions.
Create purchase orders to support MRP.
Coordinate with NPI planning and engineers on new releases to ensure material coverage of launch dates.
Expedite supplier orders that delay schedules and adjust schedules to meet unforeseen conditions.
Develop partnerships with local and overseas suppliers.
Prepare procurement reports.
Actively participate in lean activities with suppliers (e.g., Consignment Inventory, Kanban Inventory).
Basic Qualifications
Knowledge of MRP.
3+ years of purchasing and/or planning experience.
3+ years of experience in manufacturing.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team with minimal supervision.
Strong communication skills.
Excellent multitasking and prioritization abilities.
Experience with SAP MM, PP, and BW.
Effective skills in financial, market, and supplier analysis.
Data‑driven decision making.
Strong analytical background with the ability to develop total cost of ownership models.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word).
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain or a related field.
3+ years of experience in manufacturing sourcing, procurement, logistics or inventory management with a proven track record of improvement.
APICS CPIM and/or CPM certification.
Pay Range $62,016.43 – $87,386.20
