This role supports the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion/Equal Employment Opportunity (ODEI/EEO) by investigating complaints of discrimination, sexual harassment, and retaliation, and by providing training on EEO policies.

Pay Range Base pay: $49,162.00/yr – $56,536.00/yr

Your Role The EEO Investigator will work under general to limited supervision to conduct investigations regarding complaints of discrimination and sexual harassment, field requests for reasonable accommodations, prepare required reports in support of the ODEI/EEO, and provide training and education to agency employees of their rights and responsibilities under Federal, State, City, and Agency EEO policies and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion initiatives.

Responsibilities

Compose investigative plans, including decisions on witnesses, interview questions, and document requests.

Interview witnesses to obtain thorough responses.

Write investigative reports and make recommendations to the EEO Officer.

Manage caseload of investigations involving discrimination, sexual harassment, and retaliation.

Collaborate with internal and external partners on investigations.

Assist in developing and delivering classroom and computer-based EEO and DEI trainings.

Ensure training materials are updated to reflect legislative changes.

Perform other duties necessary to comply with EEO regulations and internal policies.

Required Skills Demonstrable knowledge of federal, state, and local employment and disability laws and an understanding of the NYC diversity, equity, and inclusion landscape.

Preferred Skills

Substantive knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws.

Working knowledge of disability rights issues.

Proven ability to communicate verbally and in writing with all levels of a diverse workforce.

Eagerness to work on a close-knit team.

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to engage in tough conversations.

Experience working independently with minimal oversight.

Ability to exercise and maintain confidentiality.

Minimum Qualifications

A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college; OR

A four‑year high school diploma or equivalent and four years of satisfactory full‑time experience in accounting, auditing, corrections administration, criminal justice administration, planning, forensic science, inspection, law enforcement, personnel administration, police science, security, or a major operational area of the agency.

Education and/or experience equivalent to the above.

Residency Requirement: New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. Certain titles may allow residency in neighboring counties after two continuous years of service.
