Position Overview The Accounts Payable Specialist ensures accurate and timely processing of payments and recording of expenses for TECO Energy and its subsidiaries, including Tampa Electric Company, Peoples Gas Systems, New Mexico Gas Company, TECO Partners, and Seacoast. This role maintains vendor master data, payable controls, and records while providing support to business units on payables-related matters. You’ll work under direct to moderate supervision, with training and mentoring from senior team members to build expertise.

Key Responsibilities

Review, research, and resolve invoice issues and exceptions in Vendor Invoice Management (VIM) and SAP systems.

Process invoices to accurately record corporate expenditures in the general ledger.

Provide customized support for accounts payable inquiries to internal and external customers.

Ensure compliance with corporate policies and minimize exposure to late fees or service disruptions.

Perform special processes to maintain payable integrity, including vendor statement reviews and GRIR analysis.

Qualifications Education:

High School diploma or GED.

Experience:

Required: 1 year in an office environment.

Preferred: 1 year in accounts payable or related area.

Skills:

Basic Microsoft Office proficiency.

Ability to research and resolve inquiries; working knowledge of accounts payable resources and account structures.

Effective communication and customer service abilities.

Ability to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment.

Storm Duty Requirements Responding to storms will be considered a condition of employment. Team members are required to participate in the response/recovery activities related to emergencies/disasters to maintain service to our TECO Energy customers.
