The Quality Manager will ensure quality standards are met and maintained by understanding, implementing, and enforcing Customer, Regulatory, and Smurfit Westrock processes, policies, and procedures. You will be accountable for internal and external quality complaint resolution, execution of audits, and ensuring efficient and smooth operations within the production facility.
This position is located at the Wakefield, MA Corrugated Container facility.
How You Will Impact Smurfit WestRock:
Review, approve, and execute facility and corporate standard operating procedures for site implementation
Coordinate and execute internal, customer, supplier, subcontractor, and regulatory audits
Monitor and ensure compliance with current policies, procedures, regulatory requirements, and customer requirements
Coordinate and execute investigation of detected risks or failures, complaints, and corrective/preventative actions
Work closely with production managers to maximize product quality and reliability and minimize cost
Track, analyze, and lead initiatives for all internal quality and customer complaint issues
Determine, document, and approve site‑specific or one‑time occurrences such as protocols (reworks, validations, etc.), deviations (planned or unplanned), waivers, or releases for materials and products as required
Leverage enterprise technology to analyze quality complaints, track corrective and preventive actions, and use data to isolate and track defective parts per million, over shipments, and resolve issues related to rejected products when applicable
Execute facility improvement initiatives as determined from performance data
Lead team of quality technicians and Safe Quality Foods (SQF) readiness resources, ensuring that processes are efficient, and work is appropriately prioritized
Provide tools and training for quality management and quality improvement to the facility staff.
What You Need to Succeed:
High School diploma, or G.E.D – Required
5+ years of work‑related manufacturing experience.
3+ years of experience in a production supervisory role.
Demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage and inspire others to comply with quality standards.
Proven track record of problem‑solving.
Solid understanding of and experience in quality assurance, delivery excellence, data analysis and development of business insights
Thorough knowledge of quality standards and methodologies.
Ability to learn proprietary software programs and leverage enterprise complaint management software
Professional training and quality certifications courses (e.g. Six Sigma, ISO Certification) are preferred

The salary range for this position is $83,250.00 - $138,750.00, depending on your role, level, and location. The range listed is also the expected pay for roles in Illinois and Colorado. The benefits for this role include short‑term bonus incentive, health, dental and vision insurance, flexible spending accounts or health savings accounts, retirement savings plans, life and disability insurance programs, and paid sick leave as required by applicable state/local law, 10 days of paid vacation, and 11 days of paid holidays, subject to annual change.
