The Opportunity: The Maintenance Supervisor will oversee maintenance operations using precision and preventative maintenance to maximize plant and production equipment uptime. In this role, you will be a servant leader impacting the development of craftsmen by providing coaching to ensure adherence to preferred maintenance practices to maximize efficiency and safety.

This position is located at the Springfield, MA Corrugated sheet facility.

How you will impact Smurfit Westrock

Assist and provide direction to craftsmen of troubleshooting equipment to mitigate downtime

Monitor and approve inventory orders to control storeroom spend according to planned budget

Ensure compliance and proper use of parts and equipment according to preferred maintenance practices

Oversee craftsmen’s compliance with corporate, division, plant safety and environmental rules and procedures

Lead development and implementation of continuous process improvement of reliability plans in the plant

Demonstrate ownership of business and management goals by effectively leading craftsmen to align objectives

Lead safety efforts by identifying high‑risk situations, conducting safety meetings, and coordinating maintenance related safety activities

Provide leadership and coaching in safety, training, and work allocation to uphold the standards of maximum safety for all maintenance employees

Collaborate with operations and mechanical leaders to plan, schedule and execute daily and break‑in work and to increase measured reliability metrics

What you need to succeed:

2-year technical degree in a Maintenance related discipline or related work experience – Required.

3+ years of maintenance supervisory leadership experience within the packaging industry-Required.

3+ years of Mechanical or Electrical maintenance experience – Required.

Working knowledge of maintenance techniques and equipment (i.e. pumps, valves, motors, gear boxes); strong proficiency with PLCs, servos, and automation alongside standard mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems

Safety mindset with thorough understanding of safety policies and procedures

Initiative to solve problems and take independent action.

Great communication with the ability to adjust communication style and interact across all levels of the organization; active listener, essential when receiving operator feedback and diagnosing issues before they lead to machine failure

Able to exhibit a ‘can‑do’ approach and inspire others to excel; lead by example

Must be organized with great time management to manage multiple priorities

Elevated troubleshooting skills to diagnose complex machine malfunctions under pressure

The salary range for this position is $76,875.00 – $128,125.00, depending on your role, level, and location. The range listed is also the expected pay for roles in Illinois and Colorado. The benefits for this role include short‑term bonus incentive, health, dental and vision insurance, flexible spending accounts or health savings accounts, retirement savings plans, life and disability insurance programs, and paid sick leave as required by applicable state/local law, 10 days of paid vacation, and 11 days of paid holidays, subject to annual change.
