Summary Statement Join the team at Appoquinimink State Service Center as a Social Service Specialist I! Be the first point of contact for all clients and public entering the center. By conducting the first interview, you’ll assess clients’ needs and determine the appropriate services or programs. For those who are ineligible, you’ll provide referrals to outside services. You will follow the Family Support Operational Plan and Structure procedures and the Note Assessment and Plan (NAP) standards when documenting. You’ll perform other related duties as assigned.
Essential Functions
Provides information and referral services to enable clients to meet individual needs.
Informs individuals of Federal, State and local programs/services available.
Acts on behalf of individual or group to obtain services if necessary.
Maintains record of all requests for services and classifies them.
Acts as substitute for other workers when needed and provides coverage for other DSSC programs as assigned.
Performs follow‑up activities with clients to assure client is receiving needed services.
Provides transportation and schedules clients eligible for assistance.
Job Requirements
Six months experience in record keeping.
Six months experience in applying laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies and procedures.
Six months experience in using an automated information system to enter, update, modify, delete, retrieve/inquire and report on data.
Knowledge of health or human services support such as interviewing clients and assessing personal, health, social or financial needs in accordance with program requirements or coordinating with community resources to obtain client services.
Additional Posting Information This is a Casual/Seasonal position which is a non‑pension eligible position without healthcare and/or other benefits.
Conditions of Hire Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
