The Operations Manager provides leadership and guidance to production leaders and staff, while working collaboratively with other support departments. Insures appropriate communications to all site personnel are conducted in timely and effective manner. Works in a collaborative team environment applying lean manufacturing principles towards a goal of creating and supporting a continuous improvement environment.
Lead Operations to obtain best in class standards of performance.
The Operations Manager will provide technical support to plant operations to improve the overall effectiveness of manufacturing processes, tools and/or equipment capacity to meet the customer’s requirements. Provide problem solving support to the manufacturing plant floor to define problems, develop root cause and provide detail corrective actions as needed.
Responsibilities
Lead, participate and train organization personnel in management system principles and tools targeting elimination of waste, world class quality, improved cycle time, flexibility and throughput, reduced inventory, increased capacity, right sized manpower
Manage and sustain a site culture consistent with continuous improvement, data driven, learning, teamwork, respect, open & honest, and positive attitude. Foster and promote full use of and involvement in the defined management system
Conduct appropriate, timely and effective forms of communication to the entire site team. This may include plant-wide communication meetings, training sessions, targeted groups, emails, postings, etc.
Ensure site management structure is effective. Lead leadership team and manage activities, relationships, teamwork, projects, rewards, recognitions, etc. Hold team members accountable for actions.
Assist in developing and identifying successors for key positions. Act as advisor / approver for conflict resolution, corrective actions, terminations, etc.
Assist in insuring compliance to environmental / legal related site requirements. Work with and/or escalate concerns to appropriate and responsible group
Plan and manage all operation(s) resources (i.e. manpower, capital, equipment and inventory) and improvement plans
Directly support teams in implementation, prioritization and execution of continuous improvement opportunities. Define and deploy simple, measurable metrics to align employees with company initiatives. Communicate results expected, provide tools required to complete goals, and hold self and team accountable to complete goals
Manage the performance of direct reports
Resolve quality’s process issues. Directly responsible for the root-cause determination as well as implementation of the corresponding short-term /long-term solutions to the quality / process problems
Develop and continually improve standard operating procedures in compliance with TS, customer requirements and safety standards
Support the plant initiatives, actions and measurable to ensure that objectives and continuous improvement goals are met within the plant (i.e. efficiency improvement, scrap reduction and improved customer satisfaction)
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Business Management or related field
Must have at least 5 – 7 years of progressive Management experience in a Manufacturing environment (Automotive preferred) with a track record of achieving positive results
Experience with automotive supply chain
Must have demonstrated experience managing by KPI’s and utilizing data to make sound decisions for improvement
Must have demonstrated competency with ERP, HMI, and HRIS systems
Demonstrated track record of utilizing and implementing LEAN principles to eliminate waste and improve efficiency within the operation
Strong working knowledge of lean manufacturing principles
Experienced leader with demonstrated quantifiable results
Ability to motivate both direct and indirect reports in support of strategic objectives
Solid judgment with ability to quickly access and determine direction for others
Extensive knowledge of manufacturing processes
Hands on experience in a manufacturing environment
Excellent oral and written presentation skills
Must be able to perform all essential job functions with or without a reasonable accommodation
