Business Development Manager – New York, NY
Summary:
We are looking for an experienced lighting professional to join our sales team as a Business Development Manager in New York. The role reports to the General Manager of contract sales and is responsible for driving specification business within New York City across all our collections such as Architectural, Outdoor, Bespoke, and Decorative.
Job Responsibilities
Encouraging sales with the sales agency through service, product training, sales calls, project and opportunity management.
Developing direct relationships with key influencers in the industry.
Tracking and managing projects from spec creation to RFQ, to project completion; acting as the point person for the overall process to complete a job smoothly.
Providing pricing for budgetary requests.
Overseeing and supporting RFQs, helping with large or last‑minute take‑offs where needed.
Coordinating any Bespoke and modification requests between the sales agency and the technical sales department.
Communicating monthly reports on anticipated project closings and products associated with them.
Project management: arranging kickoff meetings in the field and checking in periodically.
Maintaining the opportunity/project database in CRM.
Qualifications
Strong understanding of the lighting industry in New York; preferable experience in Specification Sales or Contractor Sales at a Lighting Distributor.
Strong understanding of lighting terms, architectural terms, and the ability to read construction drawings and documents.
Ability to communicate information, whether technical or non‑technical, to staff members and customers in a clear and concise manner.
Technical skills to understand and propose products or solutions focused on client requirements.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
BS or BA degree preferred and at least 5 years proven track record.

Base Salary: $125,000–$150,000 + MBO (Management by Objectives)
