The Garnishment Specialist is a key point of contact for Engage clients, responsible for collecting, reviewing, and analyzing payroll information to effectively administer involuntary deductions from pay, such as child support, state, and federal tax levies, etc. The position works collaboratively with all departments, including Payroll, Human Resources, Benefits, and Finance, to ensure timely collection and payment of garnishments.
Primary Responsibilities
Processes court-ordered wage garnishments, including child support, student loans, wage assignments, bankruptcy orders, state, and federal tax levies
Enters wage garnishment orders in our payroll system accurately and promptly
Verify all garnishment payments for accuracy and compliance with withholding orders and applicable laws
Researches and responds to inquiries from employees, courts, state and federal agencies, and others regarding garnishment orders
Assists as needed to ensure accurate and timely reconciliation of garnishment accounts and establishes Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) of payments to comply with jurisdiction rules
Ensure Engage PEO complies with all required state/federal law timelines and regulatory deadlines, including lack of payment to the correct agency
Collects and maintains electronic files for all withholding orders
Enters deductions on employee master files
Oversee the timely and accurate generation of payroll deduction reports in accordance with legal requirements
Coordinates the accurate and compliant setup of garnishment vendors
Responsible for CRM/email integration if applicable
Other Duties and Responsibilities
Work from the Tampa, FL office one day per week
Interact with all internal departments and external clients, vendors, and state agencies
Provides outstanding client service to Engage clients
Provides progress reports to Engage Team Members appropriately
Represents the Engage team effectively; builds trust and credibility and promotes transparency
Maintains confidentiality of all Client and employee information
Performs other duties as required
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or a related field
Minimum 3 years of Payroll Garnishments and PEO experience
Professional Employer Organization (PEO) experience is a plus
Proficient with MS Office and intermediate Microsoft EXCEL skills
Bilingual preferred for specific markets
Advanced skills in HR Program Software and HRIS Systems preferred
ClientSpace and PrismHR knowledge is a plus
COMPENSATION The starting base pay for this position is listed below. However, you should know that the pay rate may vary based on regional location, candidate’s skill, and relevant experience. In addition, some positions may include a form of bonus or other incentive compensation, which would not be included in this hourly range.
Hourly Rate Range $22.00-$25.00
