Reporting to the Operations Manager/Transportation Manager, the Driver I drives, loads, and unloads Class A (tractor trailer and/or bobtail) vehicles during the course of O&I moves and related services. Lifts, carries and/or pushes furniture, equipment, and cartons on wheels or in hand to and from trucks, offices and warehouses as requested by the customer. Responsible to load and unload trucks from loading dock, using ramps or lift‑gates. May assist in setting & offsetting goods on equipment. Responsible to produce a quality move for the customer. Assists the move process by communicating with supervisors, end users/customers and other crewmembers.
This position is also responsible for reporting and escalating any related issues about the job to the Lead Foreman, Supervisor or Project Manager. Typically obtains daily site work role assignments from the Lead Foreman, Driver Foreman, Supervisor, Project Manager or Account Manager, however, has a dotted line to the Dispatcher, Operations Supervisor and directly reports to the Operations Manager/Transportation Manager.
In addition, this position will use extreme care not to damage goods or facilities during the move, while adhering to all company processes and procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Driver
Check start time (for next day’s work schedule) with dispatch daily.
Perform pre‑trip check and safely drive vehicles up to Class A tractor trailer and Class C bobtail.
Set, offset, push, pull, lift, carry, and move furniture, equipment and boxes as required.
Properly load and unload trucks from loading dock using ramps or lift‑gates to protect goods being moved.
Complete assigned paperwork accurately and neatly and turn it into dispatch daily.
Respect rules at each customer site regarding where to work and adhere to meal and rest period locations.
Follow all confidentiality rules regarding any products or services visible at the move site.
Safety
Perform work with quality, efficiency, and safety at all times.
Abide by all safety rules; include proper safety gear (back braces, safety glasses, safety shoes, hard hats, masks and/or gloves as required by the customer or law), drive forklifts safely, and ensure trucks are marked and coned properly.
Ensure passengers wear seat belts.
Report any unsafe or dangerous requests from customers to senior management.
Report any accidents immediately in Driver VIR software and by contacting dispatch immediately.
Never back up the truck without a spotter assisting in blind areas.
Maintenance
Assist Driver II with proactive maintenance of all equipment to ensure operational efficiency and safety compliance.
Customer Relations
Maintain excellent customer service with the customers, transportation, and warehouse teams to establish solid relationships.
Be punctual at all times; if an emergency arises, inform the supervisor and warehouse manager immediately for coverage.
Work cooperatively with members of the crew.
Stay courteous, helpful, and professional to all existing and potential customers.
Other Duties
Arrive at Corovan dispatch office (or on‑site) in complete uniform every day.
Obtain daily work assignments from dispatch or supervisor and stay in assignment until relieved.
Sign timesheets daily, indicating start, meal periods and end time; ensure other documentation is completed accurately and turned in on time.
Promote Corovan’s Mission and Vision Statements.
Continuously promote compliance with company policies and procedures.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required; or equivalent experience.
Two to three years’ experience in a commercial office moving or warehouse environment preferred.
Valid California Class A driver’s license required.
Valid driving record that meets the company’s insurance carrier’s requirements.
Minimum age 23 to qualify for company vehicle insurance.
Preferred Forklift Certification (not required).
Demonstration of experience providing leadership or guidance to other employees in a labor‑oriented environment preferred.
Two years qualified as a CA CDL Commercial Driver.
Ability to obtain and maintain DOT medical certificate.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Walk, climb and descend stairs; lift up to 75 pounds and push or pull up to 150 pounds.
Reach, stoop, and sustain standing or sitting positions as needed.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Office, warehouse or outdoor conditions; may be exposed to temperature extremes and noise.
May require personal protective equipment (safety shoes, glasses, hard hats, masks, gloves, hearing protection).
POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
Variable hours, regular part‑time non‑exempt position.
May be required to work late evenings or weekends.
All overtime must be approved by manager before working.
TRAVEL This position requires local travel around the area, depending on customer assignment.
