This Position is 6 hours a week Adams and Associates, Inc., contracting for the U.S. Department of Labor for the operation of the Mississippi Job Corps Center–a 292 student residential training facility located at 400 Harmony Road, Crystal Springs, MS

Active license to practice as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the state of MS.

Experience providing NP/PA health services for adolescents and young adults who are socially and economically disadvantaged.

Responsibilities

Support the Physician in the development, implementation, and monitoring of the total center health and wellness program to help students become and stay employed, including advising the Center Director and Wellness Services staff on medical and health matters, staffing requirements, medical separations, diagnosis and prognosis, cost of services, patient care personalization, and other health areas deemed appropriate.

Consult with center staff on ordering, accounting for, and safeguarding health equipment, supplies, and medications.

Prioritize health needs and set program direction, coordinating monthly with the health and wellness manager, center dentist, mental health consultant, and Center Director to review policies and expenditures, establish budget restraints, and involve regional health consultants if needed.

Develop a system to promote coordination and integration of medical, oral health, mental health, environmental health, and health education with other center activities, in cooperation with the HWM, center dentist, and CMHC.

Provide advice and assistance to health education instructors on implementing the health and wellness program and promoting health and wellness outside the clinic to enhance employability of the student population.

Ensure the maintenance, confidentiality, and safeguarding of all health records.

Issue and maintain signed and dated Health Care Guidelines for medical care in accordance with PRH requirements and state practice laws.

Stay current on Job Corps policies and procedures via frequent communication with the HWM and review of the Job Corps health and wellness website. Provide direct medical services to students, including:

Cursory medical inspection within 48 hours of arrival and definitive medical examination within 14 days, including interpretation of routine laboratory tests.

Diagnosis and treatment of illness and injury, and availability on center for acute visits.

Arrangements for preventive immunizations and detection/control of communicable diseases per PRH guidelines.

Provision of referrals for specialist and institutional care, reviewing follow-up information from off‑center referrals.

Provision of a 24‑hour emergency back‑up coverage/referral system.

Commitments

Maintain malpractice insurance covering professional services to students, with limits consistent with the medical service industry, but in no case less than $1 million per occurrence.

Make no public statements regarding activities under this subcontract, or disclose any information regarding students or activities without prior written approval from the Center Director.

Be responsible for finding and arranging a qualified replacement during temporary absences of more than one calendar week.

Be personally and financially liable for the cost of any patient referral outside the Center without prior approval of the Center Director.
