Overview
The Business Analyst researches and analyzes how organizations operate to understand business needs, workflows, and user behaviors. This role serves as a critical bridge between business stakeholders and technical teams, ensuring that technology solutions support real-world operational needs. The ideal candidate believes that technology exists to enable the business, applies both proven and modern analysis techniques, and translates findings into clear, actionable artifacts that guide design, development, and testing. Duties and Responsibilities
Analyze business operations, processes, and user workflows to understand how work is performed and where technology can provide effective support Employ a range of analysis techniques, including interviews, document analysis, surveys, workshops, site visits, and process observation, to gather requirements Proactively collaborate with business stakeholders and technical team members to analyze information needs and define functional and non‑functional requirements Document findings in clear, structured formats, including business process maps, workflow diagrams, requirements documents, use cases, user stories, and test scripts Serve as the primary liaison between business stakeholders and the software development team to ensure shared understanding and alignment Work directly with users to define needs and validate assumptions, while coordinating with project managers and technical leads Support solution design by ensuring requirements are complete, traceable, and aligned with business objectives Participate in backlog refinement, sprint planning, and review activities as needed to support iterative development Support testing and validation efforts by clarifying requirements, reviewing test scenarios, and validating outcomes against business expectations Manage and balance work across multiple initiatives simultaneously while maintaining quality and responsiveness Communicate clearly and professionally with stakeholders at varying levels of technical and organizational expertise Proactively identify risks, gaps, or ambiguities in requirements and communicate them to the project team Contribute to continuous improvement of analysis processes, templates, and best practices Perform other duties as assigned in support of project and business needs Minimum Requirements
Experience in Agile and Waterfall methodologies. Experience in using enterprise‑wide requirements definition and business flow management processes and methodologies. 3-5 years of experience as Business Systems Analyst. Strong analytical skills, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translating them into functional and operational requirements. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse customer group including executives, managers, and subject matter experts. Preferred Skills and Experience
Knowledge of Business Process Management tools is a plus. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) or other health IT related experience is preferred. Salary Range
$125,000 to $145,000 per year Benefits
