OVERVIEW The Technical Writer serves as an internal subject matter expert for complex regulatory, policy, and technical content and plays a key role in transforming that content into clear, accurate, and learner-friendly training and reference materials. This role collaborates closely with instructional designers, developers, editors, and project teams to ensure source material is interpreted correctly and communicated effectively for training and operational use. The ideal candidate combines strong writing skills with analytical thinking, content ownership, and a deep understanding of how learners consume complex information.

DUTIES

Act as an internal subject matter expert for complex regulatory, policy, and technical source content used to inform training and instructional materials

Analyze and interpret source documentation and guidance to ensure accurate, consistent representation in learner-facing content

Translate dense or highly technical information into clear, concise, and learner-friendly language suitable for training, job aids, and reference materials

Collaborate closely with instructional designers to support content analysis, learning objective development, and instructional alignment

Support development of training-related documentation, including scripts, storyboards, reference guides, and supporting materials

Validate content accuracy and completeness throughout design, development, and review cycles

Provide guidance to project team members on content interpretation, terminology, and application

Apply style guides, plain-language principles, and documentation standards to ensure consistency and clarity across deliverables

Ensure written content meets accessibility and usability standards, including clear structure, logical flow, and appropriate formatting

Participate in iterative review cycles, incorporating feedback while maintaining content integrity and version control

Proactively identify content gaps, ambiguities, or risks and communicate them to the project team

Maintain organized documentation and reference materials to support updates, reuse, and content traceability

Contribute to continuous improvement of content development processes and templates

Perform other duties as assigned in support of project and business needs

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in related field.

Minimum 8 years of relevant technical writing experience.

Strong proficiency in MS Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and SharePoint

Experience with Section 508 Compliance.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Ability to manage multiple projects, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.

Ability and willingness to learn and follow processes

Excellent problem-solving skills

Ability to maintain professional and ethical working relationships

Ability to interact professionally with a diverse customer group including (but not limited to) executives, managers, subject matter experts, and stakeholders

Salary Range:

$80,000 to $100,000 per year
