Role description:
Arcadis is seeking an experienced Senior Botanist to join our Energy Transition team to support and group our expanding business in the Western U.S. across a range of sectors, including linear utilities, oil and gas, rail and transit, mining and renewable energies. The successful candidate will support project delivery and the management and growth of new and existing client relationships. The position will require a candidate to work collaboratively with a diverse team and have the capacity to balance varying priorities. Arcadis offers a flexible working environment and follows a hybrid work structure. This is a part-time position for approximately 8 hours a week with the potential for more or less time depending on both the candidate availability and client need. Candidate can expect to work remotely; periodic travel may be required (up to 15%). Role accountabilities:
As a Senior Botanist you will provide technical and strategy support for a variety of projects and teams. You will primarily support Arcadis existing clients with the delivery of high-quality technical services for environmental permitting projects for oil and gas, linear utilities, mining, renewable energy, and rail clients as well as support the continued development of opportunities for client and project work in restoration and nature-based solutions. You will support project teams in developing survey strategies, identify permitting and reporting requirements and coordinate with clients to ensure successful project outcomes. Therefore, it is expected that you have demonstrated experience with state and federal laws and regulations, including the Clean Water Act, the Endangered Species Act, and the National Environmental Policy Act; and experience working with state and federal agencies. Additionally, you will provide senior level quality assurance/quality control for client deliverables, including review of survey findings, support with agency consultations, reporting and permit applications. In this role, you will also be involved in supporting the growth of new and existing client relationships in conjunction with business development leaders and account leaders. This will include leveraging existing client relationships, supporting client account teams, and supporting pursuits and proposal opportunities, including scope and cost development.

Required qualifications for the role include:
Master’s or PhD degree in environmental science, biology, ecology, or similar environmental discipline
At least 10 years of experience working in environmental disciplines listed above
Strong knowledge of California flora and taxonomy
Expertise in using dichotomous keys and applying federal, state, and local agency guidelines to identify plant specimens, vegetation communities, and wetland types
Experience managing and leading field staff in biological or wetland projects
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities, including ability to identify existing or potential problems and recommend solutions
Preferred qualifications: Experience supporting and/or managing client development including identifying opportunities, developing and maintaining client relationships, and supporting proposal development including the preparation of scope of work and project budgets
