Valley Behavioral Health is a 114‑bed facility located in Barling, AR, dedicated to delivering high‑quality treatment for children, adolescents, and adults. Our programs provide a safe structure that enables individuals to work through personal challenges and develop the tools needed for a healthy life.
Purpose Statement Responsible for day‑to‑day oversight of nursing operations and ensuring adequate staffing to provide care. When scheduled, oversees the delivery of behavioral health/nursing services with a positive, empathetic, and professional attitude toward residents at all times. Collaborates with interdisciplinary treatment teams and other departments to meet residents’ physical, biopsychosocial, developmental, and cultural needs and to resolve complaints. Provides leadership to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and nursing practice standards. Patient safety is a top priority.
Essential Functions
Anticipate and manage changes in census and acuity; allocate nursing resources accordingly.
Model customer‑service expectations and demonstrate urgency regarding patient safety.
Enforce and interpret policies for patient and resident care.
Ensure proper staffing ratios, covering call‑offs and vacation time.
Maintain chart checks, seclusion/restraint logs, and nursing assessments; keep MARs and report sheets up to date.
Complete rounds at shift start; perform random audits.
Assist nursing leaders in orientation and competency; provide coaching and mentoring as needed.
Support nursing leadership team in maintaining regulatory compliance.
Monitor and evaluate patient‑care processes to ensure competent, compassionate, and safe care.
Coordinate all care rendered, including physician orders and diagnostics; ensure consultations are ordered.
Document medical, behavioral‑health information, and nursing care.
Administer medications and maintain records per company policies.
Assist in developing, updating, and revising the plan of care with specific, measurable goals.
Prioritize tasks and delegate staff to ensure quality patient care.
Serve as leader on shift for admissions and discharges; inform physicians of any changes in patient condition and adjust staffing as necessary.
Utilize administrator‑on‑call for critical situations.
Provide direct care as needed.
Other Functions Perform other duties and tasks as assigned.
Education/Experience/Skill Requirements
BSN from an accredited nursing school preferred.
Current registered nursing license in the state of the facility required.
Greater than 1 year of RN experience strongly preferred; at least 1 year required.
Experience in psychiatric/recovery programs preferred.
Experience as charge RN or other leadership role strongly preferred.
Licenses/Designations/Certifications Current certification or license to practice within the state where the facility is located. CPR and de‑escalation/restraint certification required (training available upon hire). First aid certification may be required based on state or facility mandates.
