Job Description
AHRC NYC Home care division is looking to hire Per‑Diem Direct Support Professionals (DSP) to staff our residences throughout the Five Boroughs. The payrate for this position is $18.00 per hour, depending on driving status and training experience.
Responsibilities
Available Per‑Diem schedules ranging from 8–40 hours per week (based on employee and/or shift availability).
Most schedules include working weekends; weekend-only schedules are also available.
Bilingual is a plus (i.e., Spanish, Creole, Russian, Mandarin).
Typical shifts are evenings 3 pm‑11 pm and overnights 11 pm‑9 am.
Support people with I/DD in community participation, advocacy, and building meaningful relationships.
Teach, provide counseling, problem‑solve, and assist or complete activities of daily living (e.g., preparing meals, cleaning, attending to hygiene needs).
Oversee all safety and health considerations for the person supported while promoting skill development and exploring the person’s interests and hobbies.
Work with a person supported on a one‑to‑one basis or in a group setting across a variety of environments.
Qualifications
Experience with the I/DD population is preferred but not required; AHRC NYC provides additional training for those starting or changing career paths.
Professionalism, integrity, excellent communication skills, patience, sensitivity, and commitment to working with the I/DD population.
High school diploma/GED or equivalent, or completion of certification in the following areas: HHA, CNA, PCA.
Willingness to support people’s preference for community, activities, work, leisure, and exercising their rights in various settings.
