Direct Support Professional (Per Diem) – Homecare (All 5 Boroughs) Part-time

Job Summary

AHRC NYC Home care division is looking to hire Per‑Diem Direct Support Professionals (DSP) to help staff our residences throughout the Five Boroughs. The pay rate for this position is $18.00 per hour depending on driving status and training experience.

Qualifications and Experience

Pay and schedule: per‑diem schedules range from 8–40hrs per week (based on employee and/or shift availability); most schedules include working weekends, weekend‑only schedules also available.

Bilingual is a plus (e.g., Spanish, Creole, Russian, Mandarin).

Typical shifts are evenings 3pm‑11pm and overnights from 11pm‑9am.

High School Diploma/GED or equivalent, or completion of certification in the following areas: HHA, CNA, PCA.

Experience with the I/DD population is preferred but not required; AHRC NYC provides additional training for those starting or changing career paths.

Professionalism, integrity, excellent communication skills, patience, sensitivity and commitment to working with the I/DD population.

Willingness to support people’s preference for community, activities, work, leisure activities, the exercising of their rights, etc. in various settings.

Responsibilities

Support people with I/DD in community participation, advocacy, and building meaningful relationships.

Teach, provide counseling, and be capable of problem solving, and assist or complete Activities of Daily Living (e.g., preparing meals, cleaning, attending to hygiene needs).

Oversee safety and health considerations for the person supported while promoting skill development and exploring the person’s interests and hobbies.

Work with a person supported on a one‑to‑one basis, or in a group setting across a variety of environments.
