RESPIRATORY THERAPIST - PRN
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Using the cognitive skills of application, analysis, synthesis and evaluation the team respiratory therapist is responsible for conducting discipline specific assessment and providing appropriate treatments/services to patients in accordance with established standards of practice and performance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Under general supervision of the Cardiopulmonary Manager, delivers life-support, resuscitation, monitoring and various medical gases therapy primarily to critical care patients in the SCU
Performs invasive and non-invasive diagnostic procedures to SCU and General Practive Units patients including both respiratory and cardiac testing.
Maintains clinical expertise for departmental assignments at various business units throughout MMH as assigned.
Communicates effectively with patient, co-workers, physicians and other system employees as needed regarding patient care needs.
Performs daily QC checks and conducts preventative maintenance on department equipment.
Adequately documents all aspects of patient care. Completes necessary and accurate patient billing information
Keep knowledge and skills current via education activities, in-services and other training.
Perform related duties as needed including assisting others with their work.
Must demonstrate initiative and ownership in performance of duties and be self starter.
Function well under stressful conditions involving other departments, workload, etc.
Adapt to changing work assignments and comfortable serving diverse community.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Graduate from an accredited Respiratory Therapist program. Registration or Certification with the National Board of Respiratory Care. Current Illinois license for RCP.
EXPERIENCE
Prefer 1 year as a Respiratory Therapist.
