Job Title: Mental Health Screener
Location: RWJUH Somerset, 110 Rehill Ave, Somerville, NJ 08876
Department: Emergency Screening
Status: Full-Time — Evening shift

Pay Range: $28.64 - $35.57 per hour
Responsibilities
Answers phones (hotline, business line) in a professional and timely manner.
Communicates clinical information effectively with the Screening psychiatrist/child psychiatrist and with other members of the health care team.
Collaborates with the Screening RN in Charge of Shift regarding patient treatment plans and dispositions.
Performs thorough ongoing assessments according to departmental guidelines.
Delivers patient care in a timely and professional manner.
Maintains professional behavior per hospital codes in the Conduct for Patients/Customers section of the Employee Handbook.
Describes the screening process and updates the progress of evaluation/interventions to patient/family.
Documents all applicable assessments and interventions in the patients electronic medical record.
Maintains accurate records and reports in a timely manner (prior to end of shift).
Completes screening documents in accordance with Screening Law and guidelines from DMHS Screener Certification training.
Qualifications Required:
BA/BS degree in a related field, plus 3 years of prior experience in a psychiatric setting (1 year in a crisis setting).
Or enrolled in a Masters program with 2 years of prior experience in a psychiatric setting (1 year in a crisis setting).
Valid NJ state drivers license.
BLS through American Heart Association.
Preferred:
Eligible to obtain Temporary Screening Certification Number upon hire and permanent number within 1 year.
Certifications and Licenses
Valid NJ State Driver's License.
BLS Certification.
Eligible to obtain permanent Screening Certification Number within 1 year of hire.
Scheduling
Evening shift, 40 hours/week.
Full-Time Schedule.
