The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) is responsible for managing supplier and OEM quality assurance activities to ensure products meet Edelbrock Group quality standards and customer expectations. This role partners closely with OEM customers, suppliers, engineering, and operations to minimize risk, improve product robustness, and drive continuous quality improvement across the supply base.

Key Responsibilities: Supplier & OEM Quality Management

Serve as the primary quality interface with OEM customers and suppliers.

Review and interpret OEM and supplier quality requirements related to new projects, warranty issues, and customer concerns.

Communicate quality expectations and feedback to internal cross‑functional teams.

New Product Introduction & PPAP

Lead and submit PPAP documentation to OEM customers for new product launches.

Establish PPAP requirements and approval processes with suppliers.

Support and participate in APQP activities throughout product development and launch.

Develop, maintain, and distribute monthly supplier performance metrics and reports.

Conduct regular supplier quality audits to ensure compliance with established requirements and standards.

Monitor supplier defect rates, identify trends, and drive corrective actions.

Quality Assurance & Continuous Improvement

Review incoming purchased parts and materials for quality compliance.

Conduct inspections, tests, and assessments to identify defects and quality risks.

Lead root cause analysis and corrective action efforts using structured problem‑solving methodologies.

Provide technical guidance, coaching, and support to suppliers to improve quality performance.

Collaborate with engineering and operations to drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Compliance & Standards

Serve as an Internal Auditor for ISO 9001:2015.

Ensure compliance with applicable quality systems, standards, and customer‑specific requirements.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, or related field and/or a minimum of 5 years of relevant manufacturing experience with advanced technical training.

3–5 years of progressive experience in Supplier Quality Engineering, Quality Assurance, or Quality Control.

3–5 years of experience supporting automotive OEMs (e.g., GM, Ford, Lotus) or Tier 1 suppliers.

Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.

Proven ability to work effectively in cross‑functional and high‑performance team environments.

Technical Knowledge & Skills

Working knowledge of automotive quality tools and systems, including:

PPAP, APQP, SPC, FMEA, Control Plans, MSA

ISO 9001:2015, Six Sigma

GD&T and metrology principles

Experience with statistical analysis and quality data management using tools such as Minitab.

Ability to interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, bills of materials, and product schematics.

Proficiency in systematic problem‑solving methodologies (5-Why, Fishbone, Kaizen).

Strong attention to detail and ability to identify minor product variations.

Experience with aluminum foundry operations, machining, and assembly preferred.

Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Oracle or equivalent ERP systems.
