Retail and Cafe Specialist
The Arizona Humane Society is seeking a full-time Retail Specialist to support our three pet-centered retail stores located at our Papago Park, South Mountain, and Sunnyslope campuses. This role works Wednesday – Sunday, 10:00 AM – 7:00 PM. A Day in the Life: As a Retail and Cafe Specialist, you'll help keep our pet-centered retail stores running smoothly while creating a welcoming, positive experience for our community. Your day includes opening and closing the store, keeping the space clean, organized, and fully stocked, and greeting customers as they arrive. You'll assist adopters and pet parents by recommending products, processing sales, and cash handling through our POS system, and answering phone or online inquiries. You'll help track sales goals, process online orders, support inventory needs, and assist with training and supporting retail volunteers. You may also provide support to our café and help across our three retail locations as needed. Every shift offers variety, teamwork, and the chance to support our lifesaving mission through exceptional customer service.
Job Requirements
High school diploma/GED required
Arizona Food Handlers Card required
2+ years of retail experience, including inventory assistance, stocking, facing, and product knowledge required.
Understanding of retail and cash handling operations required.
Ability to anticipate customer needs and recommend merchandise to customers.
Must possess excellent communication skills and the ability to resolve issues effectively.
Knowledge of point of sale and word processing software programs preferred.
Must be comfortable working around animals
Able to speak, read, write and understand English; Bilingual preferred but not required.
Physical Demands/Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Must be able to hear above the sound of the animals.
There will be exposure to dust, heat, cold and temperature changes; occasional wet floors, and animal noises, odors and dander. Most time will be spent in a typical air conditioned and heated office environment.
