Assistant Director of Building and Grounds

Expires on January 11, 2026 Assistant Director of Facilities is responsible for managing the day to day custodial services, supplies, equipment and operations throughout the school district. Ensuring safe, clean and healthy facilities for students and staff. Also helping to support the Director of Buildings and Grounds with department responsibilities. Position Duties: Assistant Director of Facilities responsibilities may vary day to day and with the time of year. Each essential job function described below is within the scope of the Assistant Director of Facilities duties with actual job assignments or amount of time spent on a function depending on the work that needs to be done at a given time or location. Essential Job Functions: Develops work schedules, workloads, and other planning functions to best utilize staff assigned to each building. Develop and implement cleaning standards across the district for both district staff and contracting cleaning staff. Evaluates, manages and documents any disciplinary actions for custodial staff. Manages the custodial summer work schedules, including summer school support Staff. Manages and leads the planning, set up, custodian coverage, and clean up of large events and activities within the district both during the week and weekends. Manages the custodial supplies and equipment orders to adhere to the operations budgets Plans and directs the training programs for the custodial staff. Manage and oversee the SDS program, ensuring that all chemicals are included. Manage and coordinate with the district’s contracted cleaning companies. Oversees the purchase, maintenance and repairs of the district’s cleaning equipment. Actively seeks to improve facilities within the district. Distributes individual annual quality service surveys for custodial staff. Lead in the selection and employment of custodial personnel, including interviews, reference checks, onboarding, and training. Manages the time off schedules and approvals through Skyward for custodial personnel. Develops and maintains job descriptions and tests for custodial operations employees. Evaluates custodial staff with input from Principals, and Director of Facilities as needed. Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure compliance with cleaning standards. Manage the school district Reservation System including working with individuals and groups reserving space within the district, as well as, invoicing and billing for rentals. Participates in Safety Committee meetings Assists the Director of Buildings and Grounds in creating and implementing the facility budget Assists the Director of Facilities in creating, updating and implementing a 10 year Capital Improvement Plan. Help fill in or cover daytime shifts at different buildings for staff illnesses or vacations when we are short staffed. Learn and understand the HVAC controls software, schedule HVAC for after hours, weekend or summer time events. Assist the Director of Buildings and Grounds with evaluating and working to improve HVAC system efficiency. Learn and understand the access control / camera software, review footage when requested and save footage as needed. Assist the Director of Buildings and Grounds with assigning, managing and evaluating POG access for staff and community members. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Education: High school education or equivalent is required; post-secondary experience is preferred. Experience: Experience as a custodian and supervisory experience strongly preferred; Working knowledge of HVAC systems, equipment maintenance and use of power tools preferred.
