As an essential member of the accounting team, you will be responsible for performing the day to day accounting activities, such as cash accounting, account reconciliations, and both financial and management reporting. You will be responsible for preparing complex financial reports, developing policies and procedures, initiating process improvements, and maintaining effective internal controls. The Senior Accountant will report to the Accounting Manager. The Senior Accountant will play a key role in the implementation and maintenance of Brightline’s accounting methodologies, strategies, compliance, and other required processes such as the development of controls and the implementation of accounting and finance related systems.

Job Summary:
As an essential member of the accounting team, you will be responsible for performing the day to day accounting activities, such as cash accounting, account reconciliations, and both financial and management reporting. You will be responsible for preparing complex financial reports, developing policies and procedures, initiating process improvements, and maintaining effective internal controls. The Senior Accountant will report to the Accounting Manager. The Senior Accountant will play a key role in the implementation and maintenance of Brightline’s accounting methodologies, strategies, compliance, and other required processes such as the development of controls and the implementation of accounting and finance related systems.
Your Role
Own key areas of the monthly financial accounting close processes, including preparing/recording journal entries and performing/reviewing account reconciliations
As part of the accounting close process, prepare variance analyses that identify key drivers for monthly fluxes and ensure costs are recognized / allocated to the right departments
Record and reconcile intercompany transactions, ensuring proper eliminations and preparing analyses of changes in balances
Ensure integrity and timeliness of accounting information as well as recognition in accordance with US GAAP
Assist with audits, including preparing PBC requests (e.g., roll forwards) and serving as a liaison to external auditors
Upload transactions from sub-ledgers and other systems (e.g., Point-of-Sale/Inventory management and employee expense reporting) and data reconciliations
Assist with the preparation of financial statements in accordance with US GAAP, including tie-outs to supporting schedules and other documentation
Contribute to ongoing continuous improvement of accounting systems and business processes to increase efficiencies and shorten the closing cycle
Collaborate across departments to support financial reporting and business initiatives
Assist with special projects as requested
Hold confidential and/or proprietary information in strict confidence
Your Qualifications:
Minimum 4+ years of professional experience in a corporate accounting role preferably in a consumer products, transportation or hospitality industry
Public and private experience preferred
Must have current or recent experience with managing monthly financial accounting close processes (e.g., prepaids and accruals) including:
preparing/recording journal entries
performing/reviewing account reconciliations
preparing variance analyses
Experience working with auditors and preparing audit requests (e.g., roll forwards)
Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
Ability to work in a fast-paced start-up environment
Highly ethical with the ability to work cooperatively with other departments without compromising internal controls
A high degree of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Excel
Experience in data analytics and reporting
Preferred Qualifications
CPA preferred or CPA exam eligibility requirements met
