Dental Assistant 1 or 2
Location: Baton Rouge, LSU Health New Orleans School of Dentistry Oral Surgery Department
Responsibilities
Assist dentist, resident, or dental student during procedures, including patient seating and preparation.
Record medical history and measure pulse, respiration, and blood pressure.
Ensure patient comfort and support throughout treatment.
Handle instruments and materials, set up, and pass instruments during dental procedures.
Take radiographs, provide patient education, and give post‑operative instructions.
Clean and disinfect the work area after procedures.
Communicate effectively with faculty, residents, students, and patients at a professional level.
Qualifications
No experience required for Dental Assistant 1; one year of experience or training required for Dental Assistant 2.
Current Dental Assisting National Board (DANB) certification preferred.
Pre‑employment drug testing and criminal background check required.
Probationary status for at least 6 months.
