Job Summary:
Responsible for the efficient operation of a moderate or high‑complexity laboratory facility. Supports the Dallas Sammons location and ensures accurate and timely testing procedures while maintaining compliance with regulations.
Responsibilities
Act as general supervisor for the laboratory, performing routine tests and expanding knowledge of complex tests as needed.
Supervise and train laboratory personnel, including hiring, evaluation, scheduling and continuing education.
Establish and monitor quality assurance, quality control, proficiency testing, and maintenance policies and procedures.
Develop and maintain test procedures and procedure manual.
Review patient test results, quality control records, and corrective actions before reporting.
Maintain compliance with state and federal lab regulations and OSHA safety standards.
Order supplies and equipment, evaluate new equipment for technical suitability and cost‑effectiveness, and perform cost analysis on major purchases.
Analyze the true cost of laboratory services and recommend pricing.
Interface with nursing, clerical, and other disciplines to ensure smooth operations.
Maintain a clean working environment and reorder supplies as needed.
Protect confidentiality of all patient and staff information.
Assist management in budgeting, cost analysis, marketing, and managed care contracts.
Participate in daily site operations and patient‑flow communication.
Demonstrate working knowledge of applicable labor laws.
Qualifications
Associate’s degree in Medical Technology or related science field (Bachelor’s degree preferred).
Minimum five years of laboratory testing experience.
ASCP or equivalent certification required.
Physical Demands:
Full range of motion, manual and finger dexterity, eye‑hand coordination, standing/sitting for extended periods; occasionally lift up to 40 lbs; requires corrected vision and color perception.
Work Environment:
Office setting with frequent travel (approximately 70 % of the workweek) to meet management, staff, auditors, and clients.
