Overview
BioLife Plasma Services (a Takeda subsidiary) is seeking a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) to support plasma center operations. You will report to the Plasma Center Manager and work under the Center Physician for medical issues. You will determine donor eligibility, manage donor adverse events, review laboratory test results, and notify donors of unsuitable test results. Familiarity with plasma collection regulations or a manufacturing environment is expected. The Medical Support Specialist follows guidance from BioLife Medical Affairs and provides center-level support of environmental, health and safety (EHS). How you will contribute
Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, AIDS education and confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and review of Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE). Evaluate donor reaction(s) and follow SOPs for medical emergencies, including development of Center Physician's standing orders and donor transport to emergency care facilities. Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs when there are unacceptable findings or guidance concerning donor safety and eligibility. Support the Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable. Manage employee incidents and determine whether further evaluation by occupational health/ER is required; refer to EHS guidance. Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations related to pandemic threats within the local community as indicated by EHS or Medical Affairs. What you bring to Takeda
High school diploma or equivalent to include a graduate of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements; currently licensed or certified as RN, NP or PA in the state of responsibilities. Current CPR and AED certification. Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy (in state of licensure). Satisfactorily complete the FDA-approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist. Two years in a clinical or hospital setting. What Takeda can offer you
