seeking a skilled Business Intelligence (BI) Analyst to join our grocery industry service association. Support independently owned businesses at a mission-driven organization!

In this role, you will bring your strong user-centric service approach to focus on generating reports, developing visualizations, and conducting data analysis to help drive key business decisions. You willbe responsible fortransforming raw data into actionable insights by creating dashboards, trend analyses, and industry reports. Your work will empower stakeholders tooptimizeprocesses, enhance performance, and gain a deeper understanding of market conditions and operational outcomes. *This position is a part of our hybrid workforce, currently requiring three+ days/week in our St. Paul MN office.

What you will own and improve: User Collaboration and Support

Engage with users to understand their business needs, brainstorm solutions, and translate requirements into actionable data models.

Educate and guide users in leveraging BI tools effectively to meet their goals.

Create visualizations and prototypes to demonstrate how data insights can address user challenges.

Data Modeling and Analysis

Contribute to and work within the organization’s data warehouse to structure and prepare data for BI tools and reporting.

Develop Power BI semantic models using fact and dimension tables in a star schema.

Write and performance-tune complex SQL queries and DAX measures to enable insightful analysis on large datasets.

Data visualizations

Use dashboards and visualizations to effectively communicate the story behind the data.

Engage stakeholders to determine how best to present and visualize information for business insights.

Design and build dashboards and data visualizations for internal and external purposes using diverse data sets.

Power BI Administration and Ecosystem Integration

Administer Power BI workspaces, apps, and shared datasets, ensuring content is distributed effectively and securely.

Configure Row-Level Security (RLS) to protect sensitive data and manage access.

Monitor usage, configure data refresh, and optimize performance across the Power BI ecosystem programmatically via API.

Innovation and Best Practices

Collaborate with data team members to ensure semantic models align with the overall BI ecosystem.

Stay current with and apply emerging tools and technologies in the Power BI and data analytics space.

Contribute to the team’s adoption of advanced tools and practices, such as Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Factory, Power Automate, and external Power BI tools.

Key initial projects:

Developing large semantic models used for reporting to internal and external audiences that also enable self-service reporting within the organization.

Contributing to the rollout of embedded analytics and reporting on company platforms.

Collaborating with business users to define KPIs and logic used to measure success of INFRA’s purchasing and service programs, and providing education to business users on how to leverage INFRA’s data to enhance the services provided to our members.

The ideal candidate will have: 2-5 years Demonstrated deliverables and experience with:

Service-based organizations, preferred experience in the food industry or retail.

Strong user-centric approach. Experience seamlessly working with users to translate needs and technology opportunities, including using visualization where helpful.

Teaching and brainstorming while serving users.

Gathering business requirements and collaborating with stakeholders to design and implement a well-structured data model.

Collaboration with data team members to ensure semantic models fit into the overall BI ecosystem.

Creating Power BI semantic models using fact and dimension tables following star schema design.

Creating and performance-tuning complex DAX measures for aggregations and time intelligence on large semantic models.

Writing complex SQL queries to ingest data for modelling and ad-hoc analysis.

Configuring Row-Level Security (RLS) on Power BI semantic models.

Using Git for version control.

Administering Power BI workspaces and distributing content via apps and shared datasets, including monitoring usage and configuring data refresh via API.

Preferred familiarity with:

External Power BI Tools such as Tabular Editor, DAX Studio, and Measure Killer.

Microsoft Fabric and how Power BI fits in.

Power BI Embedded.
