A Brief Overview
This position is responsible for all aspects of medication therapy management, newest guidelines/protocols, pharmacy clinical services advancement and clinical program management throughout the Manhattan & Flint Hills Regions. This includes monitoring for evidence base medicine practice in patient care, facilitating process improvements, developing/revising policies, updating medication formulary, decreasing drug spend, educating and training staff to elevate pharmacy clinical practice at SVH, increasing regulatory compliance, medication safety and enhancing patient outcomes. A commitment to customer satisfaction, efficient/effective use of resources, teamwork, and innovation is required. Implements, coordinates and evaluates all clinical, operational, regulatory, and financial pharmacy services pertaining to retail and specialty pharmacy. Assists and directs MUEs {Medication Usage Evaluations), collaborates with the medical staff, and establishes criteria for the safe, effective and appropriate use of medication. Optimizes financials and operations for retail and specialty services
Education Qualifications* Bachelor's Degree Graduate of an accredited school of pharmacy Required or* Doctorate of Pharmacy Required* Completion of a post graduate year 1 (PGYl) or year 2 (PGY2) residency and/or fellowship in the area of expertise.Experience Qualifications* 7 years Experience in the area of which applying. A PGYl residency will satisfy three {3) years of this requirement. Required* 1 year Supervisory or leadership experience. Required* Prior Specialty Pharmacy and 340B experience. PreferredLicenses and Certifications* Pharmacist - KBP Licensed pharmacist or eligible for licensure in the State of Kansas. Required* Licensed or eligible for licensure in the state of Kansas. Must obtain active license within 90 days of employment. Failure to obtain active licensure within designated timeframe will result in termination. Must complete immunization certificate within one year of employment.What you will do* Manage a team of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians at the Flint Hills Campus.. Has oversight of pharmacy initiatives, implementations and developments throughout the Manhattan and Flint Hills region. Ensure that all direct reports are fully trained to operate at the level dictated by the needs of the patients, the providers, and the organization.* Acts as the Pharmacist in Charge. Performs staffing duties and supervises staff to achieve efficient workflow and patient care activities ensuring prompt and accurate dispensing of all outpatient and or discharge prescriptions including provision of patient counselling and help with patient assistance programs. Ability to complete tasks and train staff regarding benefits investigation and prior authorization programs for specialty pharmacy products. The Pharmacy Manager also oversees all aspects of the pharmacy residency and student programs.* The Pharmacy Manager facilitates the development, implementations, and maintenance of systems that promote desirable patient outcomes through the use of safe, cost-effective drug therapies, and ensures pharmacist competency and performance in the clinical realm.* Responsible for meeting performance metrics including financial and quality metrics for the retail and specialty pharmacy.* Collaborates closely with other leaders within the Stormont Vail system and with the broad multidisciplinary team* {medical staff, nursing, nutrition services, infection prevention, laboratory etc) on clinical initiatives, formulary adjustment, SOP's, policies, guidelines, order sets, protocols, and program implementation.* Provides management-level intervention for daily issues and problems requiring interaction and customer service involving community providers, vendors and customers.* The Pharmacy Manager engages in the advancement of pharmacy profession at a national and local level. Research, national presentations and publications are required tasks for this position.* Understands the 340B program and all associated procedures and compliance requirements.* Responsible for hiring and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.* Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards and safety standards. Ensures compliance with controlled substance records, federal and state licenses and all applicable laws and any other governmental and accreditation regulations.* Provides implementation support, coordination and supervision of departmental automation initiatives and new workflows and processes.* Responsible for developing and overseeing retail/specialty formulary management.
